OK, just in case anyone is using a setup close to me, I wanted to share the issues I had and how I fixed them.
I run a DELL Optiplex GX110 P3 866 w/ 256Mb RAM and an ATI Radeon 7200 32Mb video adapter.
My machine was locking up or just plain dropping me out of the game when I would run BF1942. So I updated to the latest video drivers, and the newest NIC drivers. I also adjusted my video settings as suggested in the BF1942 README.TXT for the Radeon family of cards.
This seemed to help a little, but I would still get the same problems, only not as often. Also I noticed that now, my machine was not auto selecting between the ATI card and the onboard card for video. So I tried to disable the onboard card through device manager and even not installing any drivers for it. Still got the same problem.
After an extensive search throught the EA site and the dice.se site, I found nothing on these issues.
So I contacted DELL about the video adapter issue and also about the machine locking up all the time. They sent me a link to download a BIOS update. So I used it.
I dont know how or why, but that solved the problem. So if anyone is experiencing these types of problems you may want to check with your manufacturer for any new BIOS updates for your system.
