Looks great! I hope it doesnŽt lag too much in MP with so many details and possibilities!
But why is a T34/85 here? As far as I know this T34 variant was produced sometime in 1943.

The game covers more than just 1942 actually.

They have released a multiplayer server download so that anyone can setup a server before the demo is released.
Maybe we can put one up?

Here's a list of Mirrors (http://www.bf42.com/index.php?lang=english). I already downloaded the demo from the Mirror 13 site 40 mins before the official launch and at about 320KB/sec.

Thanks for the mirrors GhengisXP. Im downloading it right now. I sent TC a message about setting up a server to test the game out. So far from what Ive read most players have reported little to no lag. Oh and here are some more pics :D

Okay...I wanna try this one. Anytime you can draw down on a Corsair with a sniper rifle...well...I'm in. :D
And if you haven't seen the trailers and video spots of this...yer missing it. Nice looking game.

Just got done testing the MP map out....very nice! Planes are a bit tricky to learn, but I was sinking jap ships after a few trial and errors. Think this is really going to be fun.

Ok any "demo" that keeps me up to 5 AM EST is wrong. I have a feeling Im not going to get much sleep once the full version is released. If anyone wants to get together tonight or tomorrow to play let me know. We need to get a server with a bunch of HiFis and just go nuts :gitsum:

Dietrich, same here man, I stayed last night till 4:30 AM; hardly wait to play on HIFI server with you guys....:)

Let's get it installed and DO IT!!!

No lie...5AM was bad...getting up at 8:30 to do yardwork was worse.
I recall someone saying they downloaded and installed the game and then it wouldn't play. That happened to me until I installed DirectX 8.1...once that was done, it worked fine.
The game is really fun once you get the hang of it. I still haven't figured out how to fly the planes yet but I've managed to plunk some people from pretty long distance with the Jap assault rifle. The American BAR is nice too but I prefer playing as the Japs...driving the landing craft onto the beach and jumping out and assaulting...well, that's da bomb. :D

how do you select your class? I always spawn with the BAR and am wondering how to change to sniper, engineer, etc etc
please help

When you choose your spawn, just click on a class on the left side of the screen.
What server are you guys playing on?
I keep having problems in that I connect to a server, and then the map loads and right when it finishes loading, I get kicked to the desktop. Or, sometimes I get in a game for a couple of minutes and the - wham - kicked to the desktop. Very irritating.
Another question, there is no connection selection for cable modem, so I've selected ADSL and LAN, but don't know if this is causing my problem or not.
Sure would like to get this up on our server - I think it's going to be pretty good.

Euro, regarding planes :D , well, it's good that my first love in gaming is actually flight simulations and then FPS games so, at least we have one pilot on our team :d. I think Dietrich or XavierD (not sure which one of two) likes flying. Anyway, I managed to sink Japanese air carier with 8 or more torpedoes - it was cool. Controls are little bit screwed for the plane - it is stupid that you have to hold 'gas pedal' all the time; I use middle mouse button so I can use arrow button to control pitch, dive and role of the plane.
Anyways, I hardly wait our own HiFi server....

Rules of War
Rule # 1 Destroy the enemy
Rule # 2 Defend your base
Rule # 3 Do not let Euro run you over with his hooptie :D

Oh yeah....gotta love a game where you can beat the enemy through aggressive driving. :D
Nothing better than centering up on some poor unsuspecting pedestrian and bouncing his ass up and over yer windscreen going 75-80 mph. LOL!!!

I saw Grandap and Doom flying around alot, so I think we have more than one pilot. I do think I bombed the ever living crap outa many peeps, (Dietrich included.... ).
Cant get tha hang of hooptie killing, but i can sure cause a head on collision, just ask Majki :D
Hint: Jeep vs. Halftrack - Both lose
Cant believe how much fun it was, we def need our own server to whoop it up on. Keep it private for sometime until we all get the hang of hooptie killing.....

Well Gramps and I first cut our teeth on PC gaming playing Sims. F-19 Stealth fighter, which was later named F-119 when it was actually assigned a number. Did a bunch of flight and sub sims actually...so, there are a few more pilots than you think :)

I am a big flight simulator fan. I played Aces series and EAW back in the day. The airplanes in BF1942 are a tad touchy at first, but once you get the hang of it its all good:D

Battlefield 1942 has gone GOLD and should be on store shelves by 9/12/02
Taken from www.gonegold.com (http://www.gonegold.com)
Battlefield 1942
Saw this one posted on EBGames as "Gold", so I gave a call over to EA to check. Jerris Mungai, Sr. PR Specialist for EA, stated the game is indeed gold and will be shipping out for duplication in a day or two. Look for it on store shelves around 09/12.
From the website:
Your Fellow Soldiers are Counting on You!
In Battlefield 1942, you will experience the heat of battle as you heroically storm the beaches of Normandy, drive a tank across the deserts of northern Africa, pilot a fighter plane during the Battle of Midway, command a battleship at Guadalcanal, or parachute and commandeer a jeep in operation Market Garden. It is the only first person, team-based action game that places you in the midst of a raging WWII battlefield with 35 "machines of war" under your control. Youll pick up the sidearm of your choice and get behind the wheel of a variety of vehicles, ships, and aircraft to go to war on land, sea, and air during some of the most famous and pivotal battles of the Second World War.
Key Features
· Machines of War. Get behind the controls of 35 historically accurate WWII vehicles and fight a raging battle on land, sea, or air! Charge across the desert in a powerful tank or transport troops into battle in an armored APC. Pilot a heavy bomber over the drop zone or engage in a nail-biting dogfight. Fire the guns of a mighty battleship or prowl the sea-lanes in a submarine. The outcome of the battle depends upon the choices you make.
· Battle Online* . Go online to take part in raging multiplayer battles with up to 64 players. Teamwork and cooperation from each member are required in order to achieve victory.
· Choose Your Side. Enter the war as a soldier in one of five WWII armies: American, German, British, Russian, or Japanese.
· Specialized Character Kits. Enter the fray as one of five specialized character classes -- assault, medic, scout, anti-tank, or engineer -- each with unique strengths and weaknesses.
· Arm Yourself for Action! Choose from 19 authentic WWII handheld weapons, including two stationary machine guns, to take into battle.
· A Global Conflict. Engage in battle across 16 huge maps, based in great detail upon the four main WWII theaters of war: North Africa, South Asia Pacific, Western Europe and Eastern Europe.
· Unlimited Action. Three multiplayer modes -- Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and Conquest -- as well as a robust single player experience.

Yeah sounds good! I had much fun yesterday.
But setting up the Demo was a pain for my PC. I had to try 4 different displaydrivers before it has worked. After each roundstart the display was messed up and I had to restart :(
So IŽll wait for the official release and hope for the best
