Stabsgefrieter Dietrich was here? Where? :D

Ya'll need to look out for that loony on Omaha. He was running around last night with the German panzerfaust mowing down Allies and shrieking "I am the rocket man!" after practically every kill.

Began to sound like Elton John meets Jack the Ripper after awhile...and he managed to turn me into a fine red mist with that damned rocket more than once.

Welcome to the Asylum man! :D

I have searched my brain--nothing there! ;) Searched my German-English Dictionary, hard-copy and online and can not come up with a meaning for: Stabsgefrieter. Can you enlighten???

Yeah. That wasn't familiar to me either. I looked up a buncha ranks though:

Private - Gefreite
Corporal - Stabsunteroffizier
Sargeant - Unteroffizier, Stabsunteroffizier (same, which is odd)
Lieutenant - Oberleutnant, Leutnant
Captain - Hauptmann
Major - Major
Lieutenant Colonel - Oberstleutnant
Colonel - Oberst

Given the way the language seems to be usable, Stabsgefreite probably is right on. I saw many of the enlisted ranks preceded by "Stabs". Not sure what that denotes...could be the difference between the German and Prussian historical rank names.

To be thorough I also looked up Dietrich. Oddly enough, dietrich in German means lock pick or skeleton key, depending on context. It hardly surprises me as Dietrich has a knack for whacking you when you ain't looking...kinda like he got someplace he ain't supposed to be and where nobody thought he'd be. :D

Check it yerself at http://dict.leo.org/.

Stabsgefreiter is actually a Admin or Lance Corporal and is indicated by a double cheveron and a star on the left sleeve. The German Army and many sub ranks other than your standard Private, Corporal, Sgt, ect. Here is a table of the ranks.

But Euro is right, I like whacking people when thery arent looking :D

Nothing like a good clubbing to add to the humor on Battlecom. :)

Yeah, we were playing Omaha yesterday and there was this one German fella who insisted on manning that lower MG...the one that covers the hall on the far right hand (to the Allies) approach. I started making a habit of running over there each time I spawned to see if he was there. He was there about 5 or 6 times and I'd go in the front doors, through the chokepoint and down to the right side.

In order: I shotgunned him once, clubbed him twice and shot him with the Colt sidearm twice. TC sniped him once as I was getting ready to club him...spattered me with a large dose of Playdoh and vacuum...presumably, the contents of his vapid skull. :D
