My POS computer is giving me problems again. I thought I would post and see if somebody might have a solution before I take a hammer to it.

It happens when Im running 1942 (since that one of the only games Ive got reinstalled) It has happened 4 times today already. I tried to enter our server and when the map begins to load it shows the BSOD and restarts. It also did it when I was searching for a server to play on.

I couldnt see what the BSOD error said but when the computer restarted it game me this report:

Error sig

BCC:a BCP 1: 75C084E4 BCP 2: 00000002 BCP 3: 00000000 BCP 4: 804F63E5 OSVer: 5_1_2600 SP: 0_0 Product 256_1

Error Report Contents

C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini101602-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1.tmp.dir00\ sysdata.xml

Im running Windows XP Pro and a GA-7DX AMD 761 AGPset motherboard. I just installed 256MB of ram today, but it has crashed on me before today under similar circumstances.

Any help would be great.

is it just crashing back to the desktop or totally shutting down the system?

It restarts the computer.

pull the old ram chip and try it again. Your original ram chip could be bad.

I often see problems when mixing and matching Rams that I buy from:
a) diff shops and/or
b) at different times

Allow me to weigh in here with my wealth of technical expertise.

In my expert opinion, Dietrich is probably using a machine that isn't matched well for him. That is, he and his machine simply aren't connecting on the basic addict/addiction level most of us enjoy/suffer from. It's very much an issue of personal karma and apparently someone has jacked D's karma lately...and his machine isn't very happy about it.

The short answer is to get a new machine dude. Yep, scrap yer current one (or send it to me) and go out and get a good, name-brand box that can act as your cyber-soulmate. For your convenience I have already located the ideal machine for you (repeat after me: "how handy"). It's not a Dell or Gateway or IBM or >gasp!< even a Mac:

It's a MD-2002...with Doodle Tools and Face Doodle. Can't be beat mano. :D

Thanks for the offer Euro...I think. I cant afford a new computer right now (not one I will be happy with anyway) It will be some time before I have the extra cash for that, so I have to make do with this POS. I am still thinking it is having an overheating issue. It hasnt crashed since I cracked the case open and stuck a huge desk fan inside....

What's worrisome is that Ghengis knows where to get images like that... :D
